Old Naples, Florida
Old Naples, Florida is a charming area characterized by hundreds of coconut palms with each avenue ending at the beach. It is truly a unique neighborhood with its history and variety of small cottages, beachfront estates, and everything in between. It is loosely defined as the area that extends from South Golf Drive southward to Aqualane Shores, although the true “Olde Naples, Florida” refers primarily to the section around the Naples Pier.
The vintage of Old Naples homes here varies from turn-of-the-century to the present date. Architectural styles reflect this variety of time periods. There is also an excellent selection of condominiums all within a few blocks of the Gulf (zoning regulations do not permit any condominiums to be located directly on the beach in the area south of the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club).
One of the most appealing aspects of Old Naples is that every east/west avenue ends at the beach, creating easy walking or biking access for all residents. Thus, it is no surprise that one of the favorite activities of the neighborhood is to go to the beach at dusk to watch another glorious Southwest sunset.
Many clients I’ve worked with in the past have a preference of location and prefer Old Naples properties located in quadrant “A” because they like the close proximity to the beach and being close to the shopping and dining districts of Fifth Avenue and Third Street South.
Quadrant “B” is also highly acclaimed because people LOVE Old Naples beaches and find it to be a little less crowded.
Quadrant “C” is located along Naples Bay where boating enthusiasts can utilize the Naples Dock and boat launch. If you are a boater, you may prefer this location over “A” and “B”. Quadrant “C” also provides close proximity to Bayfront, another area where shopping, dining and boating opportunities exist. Tin City, another tourist hot spot, is also located in close by.
Quadrant D, while still amazing is least favored due to the fact that the hospital, other city buildings and some commercial property is located there. Just on the other side, along the top half of quadrant “B” and “D” is the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club. If you want to be within walking distance to a public golf course, you may prefer to be in that location.
The Naples Beach and Golf Club is famous for their Sunday afternoon entertaining. Live music and some of the best people watching you will find beachside happens here every Sunday afternoon.
