Coquina Sands New Home History
Construction in Coquina Sands began in the 1950’s starting with a handful of small one-story single-family homes. Building activity in the area remained heavy from the 50’s through the ’70’s and tapered off substantially in the 80’s when only a few new homes were built every year until 2000. From then on, a wave of tear down and new construction took over once again with several homes being torn down and rebuilt every year til about 2007. A stall attributed to the financial crisis slowed new construction in the Coquina Sands area starting in 2008 until about 2014 when new construction took on a life of its own for the next 3 years. Activity slowed again starting in 2018. The exception to this timeline occurred in 2011 when Naples Casamore, a single-family home community featuring 12 villa style homes located on the intercoastal in Coquina Sands was completed and sold.
